How can live performances go beyond cuing sounds and pressing buttons into other realms?
We'll explore what's possible connecting music sets built in Ableton Live to video input and output, animations, real-world sensors, alternative controllers, gaming devices, simple robotic outputs, and new tools for live sync and jamming. That's a place to start for musicians wanting expressive ways of playing, or for visual artists, designers, and VJs wanting to connect to musical ideas.
For those of you without a full copy of Ableton Live, we'll make use of freely-available demo versions to get you up to date.
If you have tools like Arduino, game controllers, or video devices you want to try, bring them along! Otherwise, we'll have a selection of experiments you can try on a computer or with some provided tools.
